Should You Be Staging El Dorado Homes?

Home staging is a growing field, with 38 percent of sellers’ agents saying that they stage all sellers’ homes before listing them for sale. For those sellers or realtors that don’t want to do the work themselves, that’s where professional home stagers in El Dorado Hills come in.

This industry can be a particularly attractive one for design savvy individuals. It doesn’t take a huge upfront investment compared to some other business models. And there’s plenty of room for growth in the industry. So if you’re interested in starting your own home staging business, here are some tips to get you started.

When the real estate market picked up following the recession, the need for home stagers also went up. The stats support that burgeoning interest: A National Association of Realtors study last year reported that 62 percent of seller’s agents found that staged homes spent less time on the market. About a third said that staging a home increased the price by 1 to 5 percent, while 28 percent saw a price increase of 8 to 10 percent.

Having a well-stocked inventory of furnishings and a knowledge of companies that can meet tight deadlines is also key. “It’s quite a heavy front-end investment,” says Nicole Schiller. “Some stagers may rent the furniture in the beginning while building their inventory, but we quickly found that it wasn’t a cost-effective way to do things. We spent the first year reinvesting all of out profit into the inventory.”
